Steamed Green Beans

16 oz Fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
1 tablespoon butter
1 dash salt, to taste
1 dash Freshly ground pepper

Preparation

Wash the beans and remove the ends and strings, if there are any. Leave them whole or cut them in diagonal strips.

Steam them, covered, in a steamer basket over an inch or so of rapidly boiling water until just tender, but still crunchy, about 10 - 15 minutes. Drain, toss with butter, season to taste, and serve.
